What does the Wisconsin Disability Vote Coalition do?
The WDVC helps create and build political power among Wisconsin disabilities community by:
Encouraging organizations to conduct local get-out-the-vote drives and outreach.
Educating the disability community about voting rights and access issues.
Letting elected officials know that people with disabilities are voters and
a growing voter bloc.
Increasing voter turnout among people with disabilities and their allies.
What is WDVC planning for 2008?
The WDVC will be focusing on several key areas in 2008:
Publicizing its grants programs and providing grants to groups and agencies for localized GOTV activities.
Encouraging more people in the disabilities community to vote in November of 2008 through phone calls and printed materials.
Developing and disseminating information about candidate positions on disability issues.
Continuing to build a statewide database of disability voters, currently 25,000 names and growing.
