What is our impact?
The WDVC has participated in three election cycles: Fall of 2004, Fall of 2006 and April 2007
Educating People on Voting Rights and Accessibility
Held five workshops, statewide, to educate people with disabilities,
families, direct support workers and providers about voting rights and organizing
GOTV efforts.
Conducted extensive media outreach which resulted in
newspaper, television and radio stories that reached more than 400,000 people
statewide
Increasing Turnout and Building a Voting Bloc
Contacted, by mail and phone,
thousands of voters unlikely to vote in 2004, 2006 and 2007 election cycles.
Among those voters:

Increased voting among the disabilities community by 33%
in the fall of 2004.
• Increased voting in the disabilities community by 18%
in the fall of 2006.
• Increased voter turnout in the disabilities community
by 10% in April of 2007.
Built a disabilities community voting bloc
data base containing 25,000 names.
