What is our impact?


The WDVC has participated in three election cycles: Fall of 2004, Fall of 2006 and April 2007

Educating People on Voting Rights and Accessibility

  • Held five workshops, statewide, to educate people with disabilities, families, direct support workers and providers about voting rights and organizing GOTV efforts.
  • Conducted extensive media outreach which resulted in newspaper, television and radio stories that reached more than 400,000 people statewide


  • Increasing Turnout and Building a Voting Bloc
  • Contacted, by mail and phone, thousands of voters unlikely to vote in 2004, 2006 and 2007 election cycles.
    Among those voters:

  • Increased voting among the disabilities community by 33% in the fall of 2004.
       • Increased voting in the disabilities community by 18% in the fall of 2006.
       • Increased voter turnout in the disabilities community by 10% in April of 2007.

  • Built a disabilities community voting bloc data base containing 25,000 names.

    Disability Vote Facts
